In the wake of Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae's launch, Square-Enix released a feedback survey asking players to weigh in on what they liked (or otherwise) about the demo.

Such surveys are usually for internal use only. This one was a little different, resulting in game director Hajime Tabata addressing concerns directly via an hour and a half-long video discussion, breaking down the specific points of the feedback results.

It's an interesting watch for anyone that played through the demo, but the director revealed plans to release a 2.0 version of the demo to showcase the changes the development team had made since the original's launch.

"We thought it would be good to constantly upgrade Episode Duscae across various events," he explained of the original idea to showcase the game's ongoing developments. "But it would be more ideal from the dev's team perspective if we could distribute a version 2.0 to everyone who played the demo."

The idea would be to launch the new version in May, though Tabata-san points out that "there's been no precedent for applying patches to demos" and is currently in talks with Microsoft and Sony "to see if its feasible."

Part of the reason is also due to the game having a limited presence at E3, with no new reveals (as well as talk about the game's launch) not planned until Gamescom. "The team hasn't enough time to prepare new reveals for E3," the director states. "We'll be taking a break from E3 this year."

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki

"It feels like the series should feel, but adapted for a modern audience, and we're so glad that Tabata pulled this massive project together in the way that he did."
