But other than the two protagonists sharing the same last name Zoink are keeping things secret for now.

Flipping Death is the next quirky adventure game from Swedish developers Zoink Games, a game that has some connection to their previous effort Stick it to the Man. We had a chat with PR and marketing manager Mikael Forslind to learn more about the game at this year's PAX East.

"Flipping Death is an adventure platforming game", says Forslind. "But it also has a lot of puzzle elements. You play as Penny and at the start of the game you actually die, so you need to find out what happened to yourself and what made you come to the Otherside, which is the dead side. It's very much a traditional adventure game, but it also has platforming elements to it."

Flipping Death was announced as a "spiritual successor" (nice pun given that the main character is dead) to Zoink's last adventure game Stick it to the Man!, but there seems to be some sort of story related link...

"We're kind of being a little bit secretive about that", explains Forslind. "Ray, who is the main character from Stick it to the Man, and Penny, who is the main protagonist in Flipping Death, they share the same last name, but that's pretty much all we're saying at the moment. It's a little too early to talk about. We want to give away more secrets later."

Flipping Death was announced as part of the "Nindies" reveal, but the game is also coming to platforms other than the Switch. However, there's no firm release date beyond the fact that Zoink first wants to release their other game, Fe, a game announced at EA Play during E3 last summer.

"At Zoink at the moment we're making two games," says Forslind. So we're making the other game called Fe. What we do know is that we're going to release Fe this year, and after Fe is out we're going to release Flipping Death. But when that is I'm not really sure yet, so it kind of has to do with Fe as well. We don't want to release them at the same time."
