Zoink Games has had a busy start to the year, releasing their biggest title to date with Fe and announcing a formal merger with Image & Form, the two studios make up Thunderful Games. We caught up with PR and community manager Alexandra Dahlberg and game designer Emil Nilsson at the PAX East showfloor to talk about the studio's next game, Flipping Death.

"I would describe it as a kind of adventure platformer where you kind of get to take the role of death while he goes on vacation", explains Nilsson.

Flipping Death is set in the same game universe as an earlier game from Zoink, Stick it to the Man!, a "spiritual" successor, if you will (particularly given how many spirits there are in the game).

"It's very standalone from the first game, but we added stuff from Stick it to the Man! for fans of the game, so some characters are recurring, but you don't need to play one to play the other", says Dahlberg.

Comparing the two games, Dahlberg said "it's a bit more sandboxy than Stick it to the Man!", here you won't just be going from A to B, but rather give players more of a chance to experiment with characters and for there to be content in between the main story beats.

Today it was actually confirmed that Flipping Death will see release across all platforms (PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One) in August, and thanks to distribution partner Rising Star Games there will be retail versions of the Switch and PS4 editions hitting physical store shelves soon thereafter.
