For those who didn't know, back in June last year Victor Miller, writer of the original Friday the 13th film in 1980, wrote to Horror, INC, the production company for the film series, wanting to take back his rights over the franchise, a case which is still ongoing. Where does this put the Friday the 13th game, though, which was released in May this year? That's exactly what Game Revolution asked Horror, INC's lawyer Robert Wyman, and here's the response they got:

"We can absolutely confirm that the Victor Miller claim does not impact the current game being distributed by Gun Media now or in the future. Even if he won his action, Mr. Miller would not own the Jason character as he has come to be known and loved and feared. He did not create the title and so would not have the right to control its use."

For those fearing that this may well affect your horror experience in the game, then, you can stop worrying now. This does mean Jason will still be in the game hunting you, though, so that's something to worry about. Do you think the game does a good job of translating the film series to the world of video games?
