Dark Souls is over. From Software studio head Hidetaka Miyazaki just made it very clear: after the third entry in the trilogy and any subsequent DLC, there won't be a Dark Souls IV. Here's his answer to Taiwanese game site GNN Gamer on the matter:

"Dark Souls is over. Dark Souls III will have several DLCs like previous games. But there is absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs, or tie-ins."

The third game is well on its way to becoming the best-selling Souls game (you can also include Demon's and Bloodborne in that too), but it looks like both developer and publisher Bandai Namco think that's enough and don't want to milk the brand for too long. In fact, From Software is already working in a brand new game, with no Dark, Souls or Bloodborne in the title.

"So rather than make another sequel, I think it's time we take a step to a new direction. Development of a new IP has already begun."

What would you like the Japanese developers to do now? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

      Thanks, GNN.

"It's a great addition to an already wonderful game, however, it's far too short and the arena could have used a little more work."
