The League of Legends World Championship has now come to a close, and as the dust settled Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix were the side to take home the trophy, defeating European team G2 Esports in the grand final of the event.

G2 had done EU proud with their run through the competition, defeating Damwon Gaming and Korean giants SK Telecom T1 on the road to the final, but FunPlus Phoenix had also beaten Invictus Gaming and Fnatic, so hopes were high ahead of the grand finals.

It wasn't to be a close matchup though, as FunPlus Phoenix actually swept G2 3-0 to seal the deal, making it another agonisingly close year for Europe after Fnatic also lost in the final last year.

Riot Games also announced that the 2020 World Championships will be held in Shanghai, just as they did with the 2017 semi-finals, and we can expect all the action to descend upon the Shanghai Stadium.
