G2 Esports had a pretty disappointing 2021 when it came to League of Legends, failing to qualify for the World Championship and also failing to win either the LEC 2021 Spring or Summer Playoffs. Due to this, there has been a variety of rumours about the organisation looking to rebuild the team, despite a few of the players being under contract with the organisation until 2023. But, it seems like those rumours are true, as G2's CEO Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez has recently posted a video on Twitter explaining the plans to rebuild the roster, going into the 2022 season.

"As you guys know already, 2021 League of Legends for G2 wasn't good, specifically considering the fact that we want to win Worlds, and that is actually our goal, to win Worlds, and everything we have done since the inception of G2 and everything we are doing right now is to win Worlds."

Rodriguez continued, "As a result of these discussions, we have decided to bench and look to trade Wunder, Mikyx, Rekkles, Grabbz, and Nelson, and look to also replace the rest of the support staff."

There's no mention yet as to who will be joining this rebuilt G2, although from Rodriguez's statement, we can see that the 2022 team will be built around Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski and Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard. But, with the 2022 season for the LEC starting on January 14, 2022, meaning we can probably expect news sooner rather than later.
