Gears of War: Judgment and God of War: Ascension - the two big platform exclusives to hit Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively in March are not selling as well as expected according to analysts Cowen & Company (via Gi.biz).

Comparing the first months of these games to their predecessors is a tough read for Microsoft and Sony. Gears of War: Jugdment managed 425,000 copies sold - compared to 2 million for Gears of War 3 in September 2011, while God of War: Ascension did 360,000 copies compared to God of War III's 1.1 million in March 2010.

"We had expected sales trends to improve in March due to a strong core line-up. Two historically strong franchises appear to have significantly underperformed," noted Cowen & Company.
