Ubisoft has announced that game Ghost Recon: Wildlands is about to get its own version of the now infamous "loot boxes", however, the publisher is keen to point out the system will only include cosmetic items. This was made clear in a FAQ section posted ahead of the introduction.
The random content will be delivered in so-called "Battle Crates", purchased with in-game credits. These items will only affect the look and design of weapons and accessories.
Battle Crates are divided into Rare, Epic, and Legendary categories, with more or less rare pieces. They will appear before the end of the month with the Extended Ops update, and players will be able to sample the system with a couple of free promotional boxes at launch.
Is this a fair way of financing continued development?
