GRTV caught up with EA's Frank Gibeau at Gamescom to discuss the company's current status and his thoughts on the industry.

You can see the full interview by clicking on the video link, but here are some snippets from the interview.

On the Steam situation:

"When you try and build something new you do run into some resistance at times. We're good partners to our retail channels. We'd love to have our products on Steam - we think it's a great service - we'd like our games to be everywhere, frankly, and available everywhere.

But you're right, sometimes when there's two parties don't see eye to eye on certain issues it leads to channel conflict. We've seen a bit of that this summer, but we've been able to take a very measured approach, a very patient approach, very transparent with our partners in what we're trying to do, we're not trying to hide anything, and we've been trying to find a lot of good compromises and good middle-ground in moving the business forward."

On cross-company tech and development:

"We run a very open process and open company from that standpoint. It's very entrepreneurial to be able to go out and build relationships with the guys in Stockholm, ask about Frostbite, adopt Frostbite and move the business forward that way. It's all about the culture we have internally and making sure to spend the time and effort to make the relationships build across studio lines.

We run an internal Dev-Con on an annual basis were we bring all the top developers inside the company to our headquarters in San Francisco for a week and they trade best practices, present what they're doing. They get to meet each other, build relationships and they then have an ongoing almost open-source community interlay were they can talk over networks, trade ideas, trade techniques and frankly help each other solve problems."
