Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to Windows 10 PC, Microsoft confirmed this evening during Inside Xbox. That much we strongly suspected, but more surprising is the news that the game will be launching on both the Microsoft Store and Valve's Steam platform.

Another interesting talking point is the fact that Halo: Reach, which wasn't part of the collection when it first landed on Xbox One, is also being included in the PC port (as is the ODST campaign). Not only that, Reach will be launching first as Microsoft plans to roll the series out chronologically, and seeing as how Reach was set shortly before the events that transpired in Halo: Combat Evolved, that means Bungie's last Xbox-exclusive is the first game in the collection on PC.

"We're embarking on a journey with our community to build a PC experience that delivers on PC gamer expectations," 343i's community director, Brian Jarrard, said as part of the announcement. "The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all of the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included with MCC."

As pointed out in the game's Steam listing, that means "67 campaign missions plus more than 120 multiplayer maps (including the original Halo Combat Evolved maps) and Spartan Ops maps."

Apparently, we can also look forward to remappable keys, FOV sliders, and ultrawide monitor support, the sort of stuff that PC players love to tinker with. That said, release plans and pricing weren't confirmed as part of the reveal.

"It has aged exceptionally well, a fact that speaks to Bungie's original quality as well as the restorative nip and tuck overseen by 343 Industries."
