One of the worst things with the three first Rock Band titles was the lousy bundled instruments. Both guitars and drums were superior in the Guitar Hero series, but for Rock Band 4, Harmonix had a collaboration with Mad Catz and got way better plastic intruments than before.

But now that seems to have ended, the financial problems of Mad Catz has forced Harmonix to find a new partner, according to Hardcore Gamer. Instead, it is Performance Designed Products that will be the official manufacturer of instruments to Rock Band 4. They are mostly known for their lighting gear in the Afterglow series and the extremely colourful Rock Candy series. Chris Richards, CEO at PDP has a few things to say about this new deal:

"Rock Band is the premier music platform for console players. This will be a great partnership and gaming fans should get ready to experience new, innovative hardware products for Rock Band 4 and Rock Band VR."

No date has been confirmed regarding the release date of the PDP instruments.

"It's enjoyable solo, however, the game is by far at its most entertaining with other people involved, so the lack of online multiplayer is baffling."
