BetaDwarf went viral a few years ago with Forced, as their story of rags to almost-riches was inspiring, moving from an abandoned classroom to a small house, before getting Kickstarter funding and publishing their first game on Steam. For their next title, they're sticking with the Forced universe but are opting for an entirely different style of game this time around, with the PvP-focused Minion Masters.

The game revolves around creating your personal minion army that will then be used to fight in arenas in short sub-10 minute games against other players. We had a chat with studio lead Steffen Kabbelgaard Grønning prior to their Gamescom appearance about the game and what players can expect.

When asked about what players are faced with when they sit down and boot the game up, Grønning explained there's a small trial tournament to start: "Based on how you do there you get to play against other opponents, and you can get more and more new cards and opportunities to get further up in the show and get more popular."

"Yeah [it's fully ranked], but we're working on an extremely big thing we haven't really talked about yet which is much more about PvE but will also grant you a lot of progress besides just ranking to make it much more interesting for those players that are not just interested in ranking."

You can check out the full interview below along with some gameplay clips. Do you like the new PvP approach?
