Heavy Rain conquers BAFTAs

Sony title scoops multiple awards

The gaming BAFTAs were held last night, and Sony's Heavy Rain scooped multiple awards, including Technical Innovation, Story and Original Music.

However, Best Game went to EA's Mass Effect 2, which adds to the legion of statues that BioWare now has stocked up on the shelf. The GAME Award, the one category voted by the gaming public, was taken by Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Multiplayer Award however, ended up in the car boot of Criterion's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

The awards also saw Peter Molyneux accept a BAFTA fellowship. The winners in full are:

Best Game - Mass Effect 2 (EA)

GAME Award - Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)

Best Action Game - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft)

Gameplay - Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo)

Sport - F1 2010 (Codemasters)

Multiplayer - Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (EA)

Strategy - Civilization 5 (2K)

Story - Heavy Rain (Sony)

Best Family Game - Kinect Sports (Microsoft)

Handheld - Cut the Rope (Chillingo)

Social Network Game - My Empire (Playfish)

Use of Audio - Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (EA)

Original Music - Heavy Rain (Sony)

Artistic Achievement - God of War 3 (Sony)

Technical Innovation - Heavy Rain (Sony)

One to Watch - Twang (That Game Studio)
