Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei won't pull punches or hide their intentions anymore. Dead or Alive is one of the most acclaimed fighting series out there, and its Xtreme spin-off was a solid enough beach volleyball arcade game, but they're latest title has drifted a long way from its origins.

Even considering the usual exaggerated depiction of its characters, both studio and publisher have willingly gone all-in with Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, with the blatant sexual objectification of its female characters, both in terms of presentation and in the way it plays.

A series that has always been on the edge in terms of acceptability, is now becoming increasingly erotic. Whether or not that is an issue will largely come down to an individual perspective, but given that the game won't be launched outside of Asia, it's fair to say that both publisher and developer suspect that their western audience is becoming increasingly resistant to such brazen titillation.
