IO Interactive just shared a new update about Hitman 3, and in it, the studio has outlined what players can expect to find in the next game, and what has been garrotted, dragged out back, and hidden in a bin.

Naturally, a big portion of the offering is the solo campaign, which will deliver a conclusion to the modern World of Assassination trilogy that we've all been happily playing over the last few years.

Then, once the campaign missions are completed, players will be able to dive back into the sandbox and tackle so-called 'elusive targets', a deadly hunt with limited UI elements where players have to identify their target and the take care of business (the studio is planning to make tweaks to the existing formula, but more details on that are coming further down the line).

Escalation contracts will also make a return (so, a sequence of contracts), plus players will be able to make their own missions in the Contracts mode. If you enjoyed the long-range missions from the last game, you'll be pleased to hear that Sniper Assassin will also make a return, although IOI is shutting down co-op servers for the mode in Hitman 2 ahead of the launch of the third game, and it'll be solo only in H3.

And then there's the small matter of Ghost mode, which will go the way of the dodo when H2 servers are shut down on August 31, and the PvP mode will not return in Hitman 3, which is due to land on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in January 21.
