During this year's E3 we had the opportunity to catch up with Keiji Inafune, and talk with him about Mighty No. 9, the Kickstarted project that fans can't wait to get their hands on.

Inafune-san told us the following via his translator. "For many reasons I couldn't have done it, but now thanks to the Kickstarter help we can make this game with the fans, with the backers, together. Now it's finally coming together and we can show this at E3, it's in really good shape right now."

"A feature we added in is the absorption dash, so that allows players to go really fast," the developer told us later. "The overall game tempo is really fast-paced. That's the sense of speed I think is something new, and that's something that we want to introduce with Mighty No. 9."

Fans looking forward to the game will no doubt be delighted to hear that the plan is to continue with the franchise beyond this first game, maybe even switching genres in the process:

"We are definitely thinking to expand the franchise, not only to 2D side-scroller games, but maybe a game in different genre, say TPS, FPS, something like that... I'm just spitting ideas right now, but this is definitely something we're thinking to expand the franchise and grow the franchise or the IP from here on."

Mighty No. 9 is due to hit PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS and PS Vita in September. Comcept's new Kickstarter for Red Ash - The Indelible Legend, is now up and running.

"While it may lack the charm and originality of the platformers of yesteryear, Beck's first full length adventure is still an enjoyable one."
