The Fighting Game Community (FGC) is a huge part of esports these days, with games such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, and Street Fighter V being some of the biggest hitters in this field, but now there's a new kid on the block in the form of Netherrealm Studios' Injustice 2, as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the Injustice 2 Championship Series presented by PlayStation 4.

This tournament will have a prize pool of $600,000 USD and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will team up with ESL, Gamelta esports Professional League, GameStop, PS4, and Twitch to bring it to life. It will offer the chance for both amateur and pro players in Europe, North America, and Latin America to compete in different programs to qualify for autumn's grand finals.

The Injustice 2 Pro Series will start on May 26 and will be broadcasted live on Twitch, and there will be four months of online and offline competition which will come down to the top 16 players from across the world. These finalists will then advance to the Pro Series Finals on September 17 in Los Angeles.

There's also the GameStop Hometown Heroes for US players to compete for cash prizes, with eight regional finals taking place at GameStop locations on August 12, and a final at the 2017 GameStop Consumer Expo in Las Vegas on August 27.

On top of all this there's the Injustice 2 Path to Pro tournament for European players as well, opening on May 20 with finals online on August 19, as well as the Liga Latina, where Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Peru can get in on the action, with finals on August 13.

More information on the Championship Series can be found here and there's also a trailer which we've included below. Can this compete with other big FGC titles?
