Back in 2018 the PS4 got an amazing game: Spider-Man from Insomniac Games. On September 4, 2020, we will get Marvel's Avengers from Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix. The PlayStation version will exclusively have Spider-Man as DLC, but he is not the same Spider-Man as Insomniac Game's Spider-Man.

Bill Rosemann from Marvel Games has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the events of Marvel's Avengers and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man are not connected. The idea behind this is to make sure that the developers have as much freedom as possible to tell a story they want to tell in their respective games.

"Each game is in the Marvel universe, but they're in their own reality, if you will. Currently, our plan is to keep each game set in its own Marvel universe," Rosemann said.

This probably also means that in the future each Marvel game should be taken as an individual product. So best not to expect a big connected universe like the Marvel Cinematic Universe in movies.

Also, it should be noted that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to PlayStation 5 later this year.
