Is Call of Cthulhu about to delayed until 2018?

A since-deleted official tweet seems to indicate this.

Last week publisher Focus Home Interactive delayed the intriguing vampire adventure Vampyr into 2018 to "polish" the gameplay experience and ensure the best possible quality. Dontnod may not be alone in this, as fellow Focus Home Interactive partners Cyanide Studio seem to have similar plans.

Originally, the thrilling horror adventure Call of Cthulhu was planned to release at the end of the year but a new tweet from the official game puts that into some serious doubt. It reads as follows:

"2018. We'll announce an accurate date as soon as possible, but first we're focused on making the best possible game. Have a nice day!"

Since the tweet has been deleted (but dsogaming caught it). This begs the question on whether someone just jumped the gun on the announcement or whether the delay has actually been reversed. We'd lean towards the former alternative. Or could it simply have been a case of mixing up the feeds as it's likely that the Twitter feeds for several Focus titles are handled by the same individual? We'll likely find out soon anyway as we're about to enter the final quarter of 2018.

Are you excited for the new Call of Cthulhu game?

Call of Cthulhu

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"There's not a great deal of these sort of genre-mixing horror adventures out there and with an intriguing narrative that truly oozes of Lovecraft it pulled us in from start to finish."
