Ex-id Software tech man John Carmack (the main reason why Doom, Quake, and Rage all looked so good), has answered the Zenimax/Oculus lawsuit results by launching his own lawsuit against them.

Carmack is claiming his former employer owes him millions of dollars, and according to the lawsuit first reported by The Dallas Morning News, Zenimax paid $150 million USD to buy id Software a couple of years back. Zenimax is apparently refusing to pay the money they owes Carmack or let him convert it into shares of stock, however.

The lawsuit claims Carmack was the majority shareholder of id Software when it was sold, but received a note valued at over $45.1 million, converting half of that into shares of Zenimax. It also claims that Zenimax won't pay the rest because of the previous intellectual property lawsuit, but a jury didn't find Carmack liable for copyright infringement or misappropriation of trade secrets.

"ZeniMax's invocation of the same alleged acts that it just went to trial on is an exercise in bad faith and distraction, not a legitimate basis to avoid paying the money it owes from its purchase of Id Software," the lawsuit states.
