Junction Point to close?

Are Junction Point, the studio responsible for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, about to be closed down? There are confusing reports circulating that suggest it might well be on the cards, although there's nothing conclusive being reported just yet, only a "chicken and egg" like scenario.

Folks over at the crowd-funding platform Roberts Space Industries tweeted: "Second 21 gun salute for a studio in seven days. Fare-the-well Junction Point. We hope that you all find new studios soon." Though it wasn't long before a correction was posted: "Our posting about Junction Point was based on a story by mynintendonews.com this morning. CIG has no inside info on their status."

Confusingly, the report on MyNintendoNews.com highlights the original tweet posted by Roberts Space Industries (though that tweet has since been deleted).

The reason that speculation is so rife is likely down to the poor sales of Junction Point's most recent release - Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two - a game that promised much but ultimately failed to deliver.

Disney, who bought the studio in 2007, has yet to clarify their position, so as it stands we need to put this one down as a rumour, until someone sheds further light on the situation. The studio, founded in 2005 by industry legend Warren Spector (Deus Ex), is based in Austin, Texas.
