Avalanche Studios has made quite a few headlines lately. Three weeks ago we learned that the studio is working on Rage 2 with id Software, and shortly after that we learned that the company had been purchased by Nordisk Film. Now it's time for headline number three, as it's time to learn about another project in development at the studio.

The game is called Generation Zero and it's going to take us back to the studio's base, Sweden. An alternative version of Sweden in the 1980s to be specific. Hostile machines of different sizes have invaded the country so you'll have to fight for survival by using a whole bunch of different weapons, abilities and traps in the open world. If that's not enough, there's also the option to take advantage of the game's seamless co-operative multiplayer with up to three friends.

Generation Zero is built on an upgraded version of Avalanche's Apex engine. This should let us enjoy a full day/night cycle, different weather conditions, realistic weapons ballistics, persistent enemy damage, and much more as we slaughter the machines while listening to the dynamic 1980s soundtrack.

Hopefully we'll learn more about the game during E3, but until then: what do you think so far?
