Amsterdam-based Vanguard Games (best known for making Halo: Spartan Assault for Microsoft) is changing its name and, in a sense, its game.

In a press release the studio stated that from here on in they want to be known only as Force Field, explaining how the team will focus entirely on developing games and experiences for virtual reality (and augmented reality as that space matures).

Vanguard Games was founded in 2010 by the original founders of Killzone studio Guerrilla Games, Martin de Ronde and Michiel Mol. The pair remain at Force Field and have also confirmed that the studio has partnered up with Oculus VR.

"We kicked off in this new direction nearly a year ago through our partnership with Oculus and absolutely fell in love with the possibilities of this new platform", Studio boss Arthur Houtman wrote. "We believe in the incredibly potent future of VR and AR and have made the bold decision to refocus our entire company."

They already have a tripleA VR title in the works, and that game is scheduled for release in late 2016.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"For the most part it's pretty fun to play. However, there's no Master Chief and it's no masterpiece."
