After many twists and turns, it's now done and dusted: Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has officially left Konami following a cooling off period after the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

However, and as the saying goes, when one door closes it often leads to another opening. Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions, have now entered into a partnership with Sony. His upcoming game will thus be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

"My employment contract with Konami has ben terminated as of Dec 15th, so today marks a new start for me. I'm committed to be involved in creative activities for as long as i live. Look forward to what's coming," he wrote on Twitter Twitter.

The company has a new website up and running, and earlier this morning they issued their first official press release, which reads as follows:

Kojima Productions announced today that it has officially opened its doors. Lead by award-winning game designer, Hideo Kojima, the studio will begin focusing its efforts in developing products that will push the boundaries in innovation and ignite consumer interest worldwide. Stay tuned for future announcements.
