Konami told Japanese media that they are not going to publish the recently announced realistic war title Six Days in Fallujah, based on events that took place during the Iraq War. The title was announced at Konami's Gamer's Day just a couple of weeks ago, but the criticism it received have apparently given Konami cold feet.

Whether this cancels the title all together or whether developer Atomic Games will continue remains to be seen, but it's certainly a disheartening sign that a publisher buckles under the pressures of political correctness. It is hard to imagine that anyone who criticised the title was in a position to tell whether or not the developer was going to give an accurate account of the events. And what kind of medium is video games, when we cannot comment on current and controversial events. It's a sad day for the gaming industry.
