It takes place in a dystopia not too far in the future.

Bloober Team, the Polish developer studio behind Layers of Fear, yesterday announced a release window for their new horror game Observer, and that is this summer.

Here's how Blooper Team explains the plot: "What would law enforcement look like in this oppressive dystopia? That's when we imagined the Observers, an elite neural police unit with the authority to hack into suspects brains via their neural implants, which everyone totally has now because it's 2084. A tool of convenience for the user, a way to communicate with friends and family and catch up on old VR movies — a tool of surveillance and oppression for government. We hope this idea scares you as much as it scares us."

If you're interested in the game, there's some gameplay videos below, and you can even listen to the soundtrack via this link. How do you think this will compare to Layers of Fear?

"The game's theme, clearly inspired by Blade Runner, is accompanied by an equally Blade Runner-inspired environment and level design."
