Layoffs at Wildstar creator Carbine Studios

There has been layoffs at Carbine Studios, with the MMO specialists letting go an undisclosed number of staff following the cancelation of the Chinese version of Wildstar. The cuts also come as a result of the game's performance since its initial release in June 2014 (as also indicated by the decision to make the game free-to-play last year).

Parent company NCSoft has assured players that it's still committed to the MMORPG and that a significant update is planned to land "within months", and the studio will now focus on "operating and updating Wildstar as a live game" here and in the US.
