Earlier this year we reported that Liberated is a game bringing comic storytelling to life, and with that intriguing premise in mind we talked with Walkabout Games' communication manager Konrad Walkuski last month in Cologne to hear more about the title.

"What Liberated is is something that we call a playable graphic novel," he explained. "It's playable because it's a deeply interactive experience, and it's a graphic novel because it's a mature, adult sort of experience."

"It's about 50% comic book and 50% video game. The video game part is a side-scroller, a stealth game, an action game. It is very much like a legit video game, so it's not like an afterthought; it's a full, elaborate video game."

"It's sort of like a first-person simulation of reading a comic book," he continued. "You scan the pages, you flip through them, and the entire experience, the hand-drawn story, the video game part - everything takes place directly on the comic book page."

In the interview Walkuski talks more about the ways you can play, like dialogue and QTEs, and you can hear more from him directly down below.

Can this concept of a "playable graphic novel" work?
