November 15, 2019, that's the date chosen by Paramount to release the very first live action movie based on Sega's gaming icon, Sonic. First news of the project dates back to 2014, when it was reported that Sony would produce the film. In October of last year, however, it was confirmed that the production switched hands, with Paramount taking over, keeping most of the team and the 2019 release window.
The release date has since been reported by Holywoodreporter, at the same time reminding us that Neal H. Moritz has been appointed producer while confirming earlier rumours that Jeff Fowler (of Gopher Broke fame) will have his debut as a feature film director.
In contrast to his rival/friend Super Mario, who is having his own animated feature produced by the creators of Minions, the blue hedgehog will be recreated in CGI but set in a live-action world, which is a fresh take on a character that has been animated in both 2D and 3D over the years.
