A few days before the debut of Star Wars - Episode VII: The Force Awakens in cinemas, LucasFilm (in a fit of nostalgia, no doubt) has been reflecting on a project initially developed by LucasArts and cancelled back in 2013 after Disney acquired the rights to George Lucas' sci-fi saga.

The game we're talking about is, of course, Star Wars 1313, and it was suggested after Disney's takeover of LucasFilm that the company wasn't interested in continuing with its development.

We don't know a huge amount about the game, other than it's a particularly dark story focused on the rise of a young Boba Fett as the foundations were laid for him to go on and become the most fearsome bounty hunter in the galaxy far, far away.

Despite most people being resigned to the fact that the game was likely never going to see the light of day, according to LucasFilm chief Kathleen Kennedy there's still a chance we might see the return of the project in some form:

"And there was 1313 the game, where there was....(unbelievable concept art). So our attitude is, we don't want to throw any of that stuff away. It's gold. And it's something we're spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to."

This obviously doesn't confirm that the company is about to take up the development of the game or create a new one from scratch, but it shows that there is still interest in the project and, who knows, maybe in the future it will take a different form, perhaps as a TV series or an animated movie spin-off.

We recently took the opportunity to talk about Star Wars 1313 in our article dedicated to titles abandoned before they saw release, and you can read more about that in The Lost Games.
