December 10 is the date that we can expect giant mechs to come stomping onto PC via the Epic Games Store, and ahead of the release of Piranha Games' Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, we have a brand new gameplay walkthrough talking us through the basics of the experience.

We get to see plenty of gameplay in the video below, including a mission whereby the player has to destroy an enemy supply depo, crunching buildings and causing explosions as they go. As you do these missions, you earn salvage points to claim new mechs, and you'll also need to make repairs as they take damage.

You can craft and add components to your mechs too, like salvaged weapons, and there are customisable paint jobs and presets to apply.

Once you're done tweaking your mechs, you'll take on contracts by looking at the world map, with the conflict zones holding the most dangerous contracts with the best rewards. Industrial hubs also let you hire pilots, buy new mechs, and repair.

Helicopters and tanks will try to stop you in your mech, but other mechs will also prove a thorn in your side. With a lot of weapons in your arsenal though, you should be able to take on all challengers, and cause some destruction to the environment as well.

Has this video got you interested in the game?
