Super Smash Bros. Ultimate took up two-thirds of Nintendo's E3 press event this year, and that didn't leave a whole lot of room for other games to shine. One of the titles we expected to see, which turned out to be a no-show in LA, was Metroid Prime 4. It was announced during E3 last year but was completely absent from E3 2018.

Metroid seemingly going AWOL had made a lot of fans worried, but now Nintendo of America head honcho Reggie Fils-Aimé has moved to reassure fans in an interview with Game Informer:

"Last year was important to us to message to the Metroid fan that there was a Metroid Prime experience in development, as we showed Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. We didn't want that fan to say "You just launched a new system, when are you going to bring me a Metroid on that platform?" We said it was coming. This year, with so many games launching effectively between [now] and the first half of next year, we wanted to focus on those games. Rest assured, Metroid Prime 4 is still in development and proceeding well."

So there we have it, hopefully, we'll get to see Samus return later this year instead, perhaps at Gamescom, Paris Games Week, or during The Game Awards in December. Of course, there's every chance that if/when they do show the game, they'll do so via a Nintendo Direct broadcast. We'll just have to wait and see.

What are your expectations for Metroid Prime 4?
