Gran Turismo Sport was on the receiving end of update 1.23 yesterday - and rather silently without being mentioned in the press release that accompanied the new cars and track, developer Polyphony Digital added something they previously said wouldn't be added to the game: microtransactions.

In fact, back in August last year, Kazunori Yaumauchi himself said that microtransactions would not appear in the game, however that decision seems to have been overturned.

Via the microtransactions, players can now buy existing cars within the game using real money. Every car can be unlocked using credits earned while playing the game, yet you can also pay up to around £2 / 2.30 EUR / $2.70 per car purchase if you'd like to speed things up.

The feature is not live yet in Europe, but it should land here on August 2. The option is, however, available in other territories such as Japan.

It seems that cars up to a value of 2 million in-game credits can now be bought, whereas the more expensive rides still have to be purchased with credits earned while playing the game.

Just recently Microsoft decided the cut prize crates from Forza Motorsport 7 and ditching the idea of tokens being bought using real money altogether.
