EA Sports have been teasing a surprise bonus fighter in UFC 2 lately and now it has been revealed that this mystery fighter is none other than Mike Tyson, one of the most feared knockout artists of all time in the sport of boxing. In the trailer below you can hear UFC president Dana White and legendary MMA pioneer Bas Rutten talk about Tyson's accomplishments and iconic status.
Along with Rutten and fellow MMA legend "The Gracie Hunter" Kazushi Sakuraba, Mike Tyson is a pre-order bonus with the new game that launches on March 17.
Creative Director, Brian Hayes, had the following comments on why they chose to include Mike Tyson:
"When you think about the most devastating fighters of all time, Mike Tyson is either around, or at the top of everyone's list. Obviously, we know that he was never a mixed martial artist, but it's not a huge stretch to think that if MMA was as popular back when he was competing as it is today, you might have seen Tyson putting on 4oz gloves and stepping into the Octagon instead of the ring."
"It's just one of those great 'what ifs' that we get to play around with when making a game like this. We love that he's a such huge fan of the UFC and MMA in general, and with a big focus in EA Sports UFC 2 being put on amazing KOs, we hope fans have a blast playing as Mike Tyson and going toe-to-toe with the best fighters in the sport."
If you think it's a stretch that Mike Tyson is in the game, please remember that Bruce Lee was in the previous game and CM Punk, without any MMA fights or other pro combat sport experience (outside of his previous WWE gig, which is quite frankly something very different) maybe it's not as outlandish as you might first think.
