Minecraft-inspired Hytale unveiled by Hypixel

If you've been a dedicated Minecraft player over the past few years then there's a chance that you'll have heard of Hypixel - it's the name of an extremely popular and creative Minecraft server. Now, the people behind that server have expanded their wings beyond the confines of Mojang's game and have announced a new studio, Hypixel, and its debut game, Hytale.

As you'll note from the trailer attached below, there's a strong resemblance to Minecraft from a visual and thematic perspective, however, the studio is looking to mix things up with some exciting new ideas. On the one hand, the team is offering RPG experiences where the dungeons are filled with creatures that need a good telling off. On the other hand, the studio is building in a host of creative tools that should allow content creators to develop their own projects, complete with cinematics.

"Hypixel started life as a handful of maps, and it's amazing to see what it has grown into - a team of over forty developers, and a worldwide community of millions of players," Simon Collins-Laflamme, co-founder of Hypixel Studios, wrote. "Hytale means a lot to us, because it represents a huge step forward for both the team and our community. We've been pouring our time, effort, and ambition into Hytale in secret for several years - we can't wait to finally share it with everybody."

The game has been in development since 2015, and it all sounds very ambitious. We can't wait to hear more, and with the likes of Riot (League of Legends, another game that was born of a mod) backing the project, this is likely not the last time you'll hear about Hytale. Check it out below.
