As we reported on last week, sweeping changes are coming to Mortal Kombat's Towers of Time, the in-game mode which has seen complaints arise from critics and the community alike. The challenge tower has been criticised for being overly difficult at times, whilst also being stingy on handing out player rewards.

Developer Netherrealm has now committed to some rough release times, along with their platform specific rollout plans. PS4 and Xbox One systems will receive a major patch early next week, which will reduce AI difficulty in the Towers of Time, whilst giving out increased Kurrency rewards. This update will also include the 'thank you gift', consisting of a selection of different rewards; 500,000 Koins, 500 Hearts, 1,000 Soul Fragments, and 1,000 Time Krystals (coming to all players).

The Nintendo Switch and PC platforms have a longer list of updates coming, which will release across two different patches, the first of which will tackle the most difficult modifiers in the Towers of Time and make some general fixes and stability improvements, arriving within the next few days. The second patch will release early next week for these two platforms, containing the same adjustments seen in the PS4 and Xbox One updates.

But how is the Tower of Time's difficulty being reduced exactly? Well, in the patch notes we hear that some "character tuning" is going on, but on top of that the AI health is also being reduced in the mode.

The full platform specific patch notes can be viewed here. Are you looking forward to the upcoming changes to MK11?

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki

"It's a fine version of the game. Sadly, the controller options the Switch provides aren't great."
