Publisher Funcom and developer Rock Pocket Games have revealed horror game Moons of Madness, which is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One around Halloween this year, throwing you onto Mars in a mix of exploration and Lovecraftian horror, according to the press release.
Moons of Madness has been shown before via a prototype in development, and Funcom has helped improve the game since that point, using the mythology of Funcom's Secret World Legends. Moons of Madness even sits in the same thematic universe.
"With Funcom's support we have been given the opportunity to do all the things we wanted to do with the game and the story," said Ivan Moen, CEO of Rock Pocket Games. "Moons of Madness has been an internal passion project of ours, one that we've worked on in-between other titles for other publishers, and now being able to fully focus on it and put all our creative energy into it is a dream come true."
You play as technician Shane Newehart in this game, who has to investigate mysterious events like systems malfunctioning and a strange mist in the greenhouse. You need to explore the secret research base Invictus to find the answers, and as with other Lovecraftian horror experiences, your sanity is brought into question.
