Mortal Kombat 11 has just been released to reintroduce us to the fighting game series, and now we have details of the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition for 2019 and 2020, courtesy of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Netherrealm Studios, and Intersport.

Intersport is running the competition, which is the first global esports program for the game, kicking off next month and offering players a chance to compete in four online tournaments, which are as follows:

August - EU East
August - Middle East
September - Australia
September - EU West

There are several offline tournaments planned as well, offering a prize pool bonus of $1,000 USD at each stop. The confirmed events are:

June 15 to 15 - Fighting Games Challenge (Łódź, Poland)
July 20 to 21 - Versus Fighting (Birmingham, UK)
September 27 to 29 - U.F.A. (Paris, France)
October 3 to 6 - IgroMir (Moscow, Russia)

Qualifiers from these events will then get to go to the international finals at DreamHack Winter in Jönköping, Sweden from November 29 to December 1, with a prize pool of $10,000 at stake. The winner of this will then compete in the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition finale, called Final Kombat, coming to Chicago in Q1 of next year.

You can watch all esports action on Netherrealm's Twitch channel, and more details on all things esports can be found here.

Will you try competing?

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki

"It's a fine version of the game. Sadly, the controller options the Switch provides aren't great."
