Satoru Iwata has announced that the team behind the Super Mario Galaxy games, as well as Super Mario 3D Land, are working on a new 3D Mario adventure for Wii U, which will be unveiled at this year's E3.

The Nintendo Direct announcement joined news that new Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island (designed by the Kirby's Epic Yarn team and overseen by Yoshi's Island director) and Legend of Zelda titles (as well as a Wind Waker HD remake) are in the works for the Wii U, as well as the first screens of the new Smash Bros game for the system will also be shown at E3.
