Today during Microsoft's E3 press conference, a slew of new features were announced for the Xbox Live platform. Firstly, background music was announced, allowing you to play music in the background on Xbox, no matter what game you're playing.

The second feature to be announced was the ability to play games in any language you want, followed by the inclusion of Cortana onto the Xbox Live platform. All of these updates are to hit Xbox Live in the Xbox Anniversary update, which will land in October.

There were also three new major features announced that are coming as part of the Anniversary update. First up is Clubs on Xbox Live, which allows you to create communities, and meet people that love the same things you do. A couple of examples given of clubs during the conference were ones for Minecraft creators, and another for The Division agents based in certain areas.

Another major feature coming in October is the Looking for Group on Xbox Live - essentially allowing you to post 'wanted ads,' so you can ask for help in a game or just simply look for someone to play with.

The final major feature announced is called Arena on Xbox Live, a new tournament platform that allows players to set up their own competitive matches. The games included in the Arena system are games from Microsoft Games studios, like Killer Instinct and Minecraft, but many EA Sports games are set to arrive on the platform. The first EA Sports game to hit Arena is FIFA, which will arrive "In the coming years."
