The next big update for Wargaming's naval combat title, World of Warships, is launching today, and it's bringing a whole host of exciting content to the game as revealed in a new update video.

Players will finally get to see the anticipated Soviet battleships make their way to the live server, bringing a whole new era of combat to the ever-expanding game. As well as the ships already on the test server, four other Soviet vessels will be making their way to the title, sitting at Tier X, IX, IV and III.

Supporting the new ships, a brand-new commander will be making his way to the game to help the Soviets on their path to victory. Nikolai Kuznetsov, leader of the Soviet Navy, will possess unique abilities and will be purchasable through Provision Tokens, a new temporary resource.

For more dedicated fans, the update will feature a new map for Tier X and IX battles situated in Greece. Inspired by Santorini Island, the map will be situated in the Aegean Sea, featuring low islands which can be attacked over. On the topic of high Tier warfare, Ranked Battles will finally be making their way to the title, using a composition of seven Tier X ships slugging it out over Domination and Epicentre game modes. Players without a Tier X ship can look to rent one if they wish to participate in the new game mode.

Last of all, in-game Ports have been updated to utilise a dynamic environment, where days will roll into nights and certain places will be surrounded by a thick mist. Now you too can experience a satisfying sunset whilst hurling explosives over the enchanting resorts of Santorini Island.
