Dualshock 4 detailed

Whilst we didn't get to see the console itself, last night at Sony's press conference in New York we did get a good look at the new controller for Playstation 4, The Dualshock 4.

The revised console retains a similar aesthetic, but now comes packing a six-axis sensor, as well as a touch pad. A light bar on the top has three colour LEDs that illuminate to provide information (such as low health etc) during gameplay.

There's to be a built-in speaker and stereo headset jack, allowing for "high-fidelity sound effects of games from both the TV and also from the controller." 

A Mono Headset will come bundled with the console, and thanks to the new design we'll be able to chat whilst sound effects come from the controller - though it'll be interesting to see what kind of sound quality it'll be able to muster.

A new "share" button will increase social connectivity, and sites Ustream and Facebook were both mentioned during the press conference.

The Dualshock 4 will be connected to the new Playstation 4 Eye, that'll feature two high-sensitive cameras, with "wide-angle lenses with 85-degree diagonal angle views."

The Eye will use the light bars if multiple controllers are in play, so as to accurately place individual gamers. We're also promised it'll be powerful enough to allow for facial recognition.
