It's the middle of summer, we're just a few short months away from the release of the new NHL game, NHL 19. As is the tradition (at least for a couple of years now), the game debuted during the annual awards and draft festivities that ends one season and has us looking towards the next. EA Vancouver continues their work to make the game mimic today's hockey even more with NHL 19, specifically focusing on how the new generation of technically gifted players transform the game. We had a chat with creative director William Ho about the new game.
"We've really improved the skating and the hitting in the game, so this new generation of players, we really want to capture how athletic these players are," says Ho. "So we've got amazing new RPM tech skating, which makes the players smoother, more responsive, more agile than ever before. And hitting, because people who love hockey love hits, and so we've got more realistic and a wider variety of hits and collisions between players than ever before."
The conversation also touched on the Las Vegas Golden Knights, franchise mode, and how to bring more fans into the online experience.
NHL 19 is set to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on September 14.
