Nintendo have reportedly delayed the mass production of their latest console, the Nintendo NX, to early 2017. This report comes from Digitimes, who state that the delay has happened in order for Nintendo to give the console VR capability.

The original report from Digitimes cites 'sources from the upstream supply chain,' and states that VR is being added to the console in order to 'satisfy the popular trend in the gaming market.' Some key components for the console are still to be made in late 2016, but the order volume has been roughly halved.

Another thing of note from the report is that there are once again claims that the NX 'combines the video gaming experience with the mobile gaming experience,' and that the device features a 5-to-7-inch display. This once again revives talk that the console will be a hybrid, between console and handheld.
