Nintendo hasn't shied away from giving us some big news, both good and bad, these first weeks of 2019, and today they have another big one for us.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo Of America, has announced that he's retiring and that April 15 will be his last day at the company. Here's what Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo Co. has to say about the giant, like-able gentleman:

"I really appreciate everything Reggie has done for Nintendo. Inside and outside our company, Reggie is known as an exceptional leader. We are grateful that he is leaving the business in good shape with strong momentum. While we will miss him and we wish him the very best in his retirement, we are also pleased to have such an able successor ready to step into that role".

But who is this successor you ask? Do you remember the fun headlines about "Bowser being hired by Nintendo" back in 2013? That's right. It's obviously the current Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Doug Bowser, who is set to get a nice promotion. It sounds like Reggie almost considers his decision to retire as a promotion as well. Just read his statement:

"Nintendo owns a part of my heart forever. It's a part that is filled with gratitude - for the incredibly talented people I've worked with, for the opportunity to represent such a wonderful brand, and most of all, to feel like a member of the world's most positive and enduring gamer community. As I look forward to departing in both good health and good humor, this is not 'game over' for me, but instead 'leveling up' to more time with my wife, family and friends."

We wish you all the best in the future, Reggie. It's been an honour and a lot of fun. Your body is ready for this!
