Despite the fact that the Switch may be encroaching on 3DS territory in the future, it seems that the company has readily renewed their commitment to the handheld.

Recently, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima told investors that 3DS and 2DS sales actually rose during the last fiscal year, despite this being its seventh year on store shelves.

Therefore, Kimishima revealed that the company still sees "strong potential for the continuation of this business." In addition, Kimishima revealed that a lot of first party software is still on its way to the handheld. And, of course, Nintendo just unveiled the new new 2DS XL.
