Some Nintendo consoles has had trouble securing a healthy third-party support, and ultimately that was one of the main reasons leading to the demise of Wii U. By banking more on indie games and already having a big install base, that doesn't look like it'll happen to the Switch, because it's already about to surpass the 3DS in terms of available titles.
According to the updated Nintendo homepage the Switch is closing in on the 3DS with 1065 available games in North America. The 3DS sits on 1254 games, but remember that Switch was released in March 2017, and the 3DS has been on the market for over seven years.
Switch has already surpassed the Wii U, and at this rate it will catch both the Wii and the Nintendo DS next year.
