Yesterday many members from the Nioh community took to social media to express their annoyance after finding out that, for Nioh's final version, Team Ninja is preventing two players from playing the whole game cooperatively online, as now beating a given level is a requirement to play as a guest. Now the developers have explained the reasoning behind this last-minute decision.
"You cannot co-op through the entire game because that would make it too easy for players to beat the game," said Tom Lee, creative director at Team Ninja in an emailed statement as caught by Kotaku. "We want players to experience Nioh in how it was intended to be. We allowed players to co-op anytime in the last trial demo only because of the limited stages and time to try out the demo."
So, apparently, it's a matter of challenge for the solo player, and after all that's the spirit of the main mode of the game (even if it's getting a free PvP mode later this year).
Nioh has launched just today exclusively on PS4, and if you want to be like William the gaijin samurai, you'd better take a look at our review, and watch our livestream.
Do you appreciate Team Ninja's reasons for removing co-op as in the demo, or should it still be in there for those who want it?
