Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon mightn't have been as good as the game it was built on top of, but it was still a breath of fresh air, and an enjoyable one at that. Fans hoping for a sequel to launch in the wake of the incoming Far Cry 4 will therefore be disappointed to hear that Ubisoft has no plans to bring the spin-off back for a sequel.
"The cool thing about Blood Dragon was that it was a surprise," creative director Alex Hutchinson told IGN. "It was a great use of the Far Cry 3 base, and had an awesome soundtrack."
"So the answer is no, you won't be getting another one of those. Hopefully we can come up with something that surprises you as much as the original Blood Dragon. And if we did make one, I'd probably get told on Twitter 'are we going to get a Blood Dragon every year? You're just in a factory churning things out'."
Earlier this year Hutchinson did admit that they might do "something outlandish" with subsequent DLC or expansions for Far Cry 4, so it looks like they're thinking about doing something, even if it isn't a direct sequel to Blood Dragon.
